FAQ

What is a buyer’s premium?

A standard policy for auction is the buyer’s premium. Be aware that in addition the hammer price you will be charged a buyer’s premium on all auction items of 20% for in house bids and bids on auctions.nyshowplace.com and 25% on other online platforms in addition to and New York sales tax.  You are required to pay tax unless you are a dealer with a valid resale number OR you are located out of state & are having items shipped to you.

Are all items sold in perfect condition?

Please take into consideration that all items sold at auction are pre-owned. Although we do our best to photograph every condition issue, assessing condition is often subjective. The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Auctions at Showplace will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. Please make sure you are comfortable with the condition before you bid. Complete condition information is available by request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction.
